West Burleigh Air Quality Assessment

West Burleigh Construction Waste and Resource Recovery (WBCWRR) Project Air Quality Assessment

An independent Air Quality Assessment was undertaken which assessed potential dust and odour impacts from the WBCWRR Project and used detailed dispersion modelling to enable an assessment of particulate concentrations and deposition rates from the proposed project.

The air quality assessment was undertaken in accordance with the EPP – Air. In addition, the assessment also had regard to dust and odour nuisance in accordance with AS3580.10.1, the goals in the National Environment Protection (Ambient Air Quality) Measure and the Queensland Ecoaccess Guideline: Odour Impact Assessment from Developments (2013).

Assessment findings

The detailed meteorological and particulate and odour dispersion modelling demonstrated that, with the implementation of management actions outlined in the Site Based Management Plan, the non-putrescible construction waste landfill and resource recovery operations will comply with the relevant air quality objectives at all nearby residential premises.

It has also been concluded that the predicted dust deposition rates and odour concentrations readily comply with the nuisance dust criteria and Queensland Odour Guideline at all surrounding sensitive uses.
